McDaniel’s Do-it Center honored in Washington
McDaniel’s Do-it Center of Snohomish, Wash. received and Excellence in Business Award from the Snohomish Chamber of Commerce.
The award was presented at a March 15 board meeting, during which the hardware store was cited for its quality products, its customer loyalty and its ability to weather the storm of a recession.
McDaniel’s is no stranger to awards. During the 2009 Do it Best May Market, McDaniel’s owner Brad McDaniel was one of several high-performance retailers who took part in a panel presentation on "Extreme Retailing." In 2008, McDaniel’s was recognized with a single-store purchasing award from Do it Best.
Another Ace on tap for Rochester, Minn.
According to an article in the postbulletin.com, and old Hollywood Video store in Rochester, Minn., will soon be converted into the city’s fourth Arrow Ace Hardware location.
Owner Dave Neiman, who reportedly owns stores in Byron, Owatonna, Northfield, Mankato, Shakopee, Chaska and St. Peter, said the store is expected to open in June.
RISI hires new economist
RISI, a leading provider of information about the forest products industry, has announced the appointment of Wade Camp as senior wood products economist. Camp comes to RISI from the Southeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association, where he held the title of director of economic services.
Camp’s career spans three decades and multiple roles from production to economic modeling, working for companies and associations such as International Paper, Georgia-Pacific and the Southern Forest Products Association.
Headquartered in Boston, RISI works with clients in the timber, wood products, bioenergy, pulp and paper, tissue, nonwovens, printing and publishing industries. It has additional offices throughout North and South American, Europe and Asia.
