Makita rolls out versatile job site fan

BY HBSDealer Staff

Makita unveiled a new 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 13-inch Job Site Fan.

Along with a breeze, the fan brings versatility to the job site. It can run off a variety of battery packs as well as an AC power cord.

The product is also the latest addition to the expanding 18V LXT line up, described by the company as the world’s largest cordless tool series powered by an 18V lithium-ion slide-style battery.

"Makita continues to be the market leader in 18 volt Lithium-Ion with a growing assortment of solutions in our expanding 18V LXT line-up," said Mario Lopez, Makita Product Manager, Cordless Tools. "With 4 hours of run time and a range of convenience features, the DCF300Z is a powerful and portable solution for painters and contractors, and more."

The DCF300Z has three speed settings and an oscillation selector for optimal air velocity and control, with up to 4 hours of continuous run time in low speed with a fast-charging 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 4.0 Ah battery (sold separately). For added convenience, the 3-stage automatic timer offers 1, 2 and 4-hour power-off selection.

Golden Hammer Profile: ShopVac

BY Steph Koyfman

ShopVac wouldn’t be a household name today if it weren’t for its tendency to continually invest in its future — a tradition it has carried out over its 40-year-plus history.

"We continue to invest back into the company," explained SVP sales & marketing Larry Tempesco, reflecting on ShopVac’s methods of maintaining its edge. "From manufacturing improvements to engineering updates and product improvements, all aimed at being the best in market."

The Williamsport, Pennsylvania-based company took home the 2014 Golden Hammer Award in the Floor Care category this year, but that’s hardly a reason for the manufacturer to rest on its laurels. Instead, it’ll continue upcycling its successes as fodder for future growth, perfecting an already oft-improved line of wet/dry vacuum cleaners made for some of the industry’s toughest jobs, the company said.

More specifically, Tempesco pointed to improving ease of use, as well as providing specific units for specialized applications.

Of course, there’s plenty about ShopVac that promises to stay the same — and an excellent track record in service is a great place to start.

"We’re noted for our service that we provide our retail accounts," added Tempesco. "We pride ourselves on on-time shipments that are 100% complete."

The above is one of a series of profiles recognizing this year’s Golden Hammer Vendor winners, to appear on HomeChannelNews.com and in HCN Daily. Thirty-one Golden Hammer Vendor winners were honored this year at the 2014 National Hardware Show in Las Vegas.
