Making green homes stand out in a tough market
Green features around the house are an increasingly important part of a home sale in a buyer’s market, according to Bloomberg report.
While the housing slump enters its sixth year, builders in Texas and California are explaining the benefits of environmentally friendly features that can add appeal to new construction.
The article points to stats that show green homes accounted for 16% of the estimated $100 billion home-building industry last year, up from 2% in 2006.
LP: David Weekley’s “Partners of Choice”
LP Building Products has received the 2011 “Partners of Choice” Award for service from Houston-based home builder David Weekley Homes. LP, which was awarded an “A” in the service category, was one of 17 companies to receive an award out of about 150 of the company’s trade partners.
“It is an honor to receive this award and to be considered best in class by David Weekley Homes team members,” said Mike Sims, VP sales, LP Building Products. “The ‘Partners of Choice’ Award reflects LP Building Products’ commitment to David Weekley Homes and to all of our customers.”
David Weekley Homes’ supplier evaluation process is determined by the National Trading Partner Survey, a quarterly evaluation submitted by team members from every market and level inside the organization. The home builder’s team members rate trading partners on a scale of one to 10. Scores are then averaged and ranked from “A” to “F” in 20% increments.
“Our unique rating system allows the comparison of different companies from diverse industries in support of the home building industry and provides a quantifiable method to measure excellence,” said Bill Justus, VP supply chain services for David Weekley Homes, and chief architect behind this world-class evaluation platform. “Winning companies must ensure that not only themselves, but their channel partners are in alignment in delivering their products effectively and efficiently to their customer, David Weekley Homes.”
DuPont signs deal with Weatherization Partners
DuPont changed its Tyvek Distributor Geographic Market Area (GMA). Effective immediately, the GMA encompassing portions of Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas formerly represented by Four States Supply, has been assigned to Weatherization Partners, Limited (WPL).
Weatherization Partners began its relationship as a distributor for DuPont Tyvek Building Products in 1992. At that time, WPL was the sole distributor of DuPont Tyvek in Texas and has since grown its distribution covering the whole Southwest and into Southern California. With the acquisition of portions of Kansas and Missouri, the move marks the beginning for WPL to distribute DuPont Tyvek Weather Barriers into the Midwest.
