NAWLA plays ‘Moneyball’ in Colorado
The North American Wholesale Lumber Association has announced its speaker and education schedule for its 2012 Leadership Conference, and the event will be headlined by Billy Beane and Lt. Gen. Russel Honore. The Conference will be April 29-May 1 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.
"Both our headline speakers have successfully lead organizations and people under less than ideal circumstances," said Gary Vitale, President/CEO of NAWLA. "Billy Beane challenged the status quo in baseball and changed the way it is played. General Honore brought order from chaos, live on national television."
Billy Beane is the General Manager of the Oakland A’s and was the subject of the book and movie "Moneyball." He will speak at the conference’s closing luncheon on Tuesday, May 1 about Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game. Russel L. Honore, Lt. General, USA (retired), was the commanding officer of Task Force Katrina. An expert on leadership and crisis management, General Honore will be the keynote speaker at the Chairman’s Dinner on Monday, April 30. The conference will be kicked off on Sunday, April 29 by Vince Lombardi, Jr, who will speak about motivation, commitment, and mental toughness in today’s economy.
"We have a strong line up of leadership speakers, but as John F. Kennedy once said, ‘Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other’," said Vitale. "We put together a solid education program for anyone who is a leader in our industry."
