Lowe’s adds Spanish language Web option

Lowe’s launched Lowes.com en Español, a Spanish language option that enhances Lowe’s ability to meet the needs and expectations of Hispanic consumers.

“Our No. 1 priority at Lowe’s is to ensure our customers have the best possible experience shopping with us, whether they plan a project with our employees in the aisles of their local store or at home through our online tools and services,” said Gihad Jawhar, VP of Lowes.com. “Providing a Spanish language option on Lowes.com is a natural next step as our website develops to provide improved customer service.”

In addition to shop-and-compare functionality, Lowes.com en Español provides how-to articles for projects around the home. Translated how-to video content will follow, with availability in September. Content covers such topics as regular home maintenance, tips for planting edible gardens and step-by-step instructions for DIY projects such as building a deck.

LowesCreativeIdeas.com also launched in Spanish. Customers can access the Spanish language content by visiting LowesCreativeIdeas.com/espanol. Lowe’s Creative Ideas offers inspiration to first-time homeowners and savvy DIYers alike. Ideas Creativas de Lowe’s will launch in print this September in collaboration with Siempre Mujer magazine, followed by a Holiday 2011 edition.

KraftMaid introduces redesigned website

KraftMaid Cabinetry has redesigned its website, KraftMaid.com, to allow for easier navigation, increased interactivity and new features. The website now includes new tools for planning home improvement projects, such as an improved product visualizer and “Style Quiz,” and an enhanced store locator. 

One of the new website’s interactive features is the “MyStyle Studio,” which allows customers to share “Style Boards” of saved room photos and KraftMaid products, and to upload and share personal photos.

KraftMaid launched the redesigned site this week. The company also has a presence on Facebook and Twitter in addition to KraftMaid.com, as well as a KraftMaid blog.

RPM Coatings purchases Italian company

RPM Performance Coatings Group, a Medina, Ohio, holding company that owns consumer brands Zinsser, Rust-Oleum, DAP and Varathane, has purchased API, an Italian flooring and deck coating business. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Based in Genoa, Italy, API is a $28 million company that produces and installs epoxy and polyurethane flooring systems for the Italian building market. It specializes decking solutions for cruise ships, mega-yachts and naval applications.

"API enhances RPM’s presence in the decorative flooring market and will complement the strengths of our Stonhard and Flowcrete commercial polymer flooring businesses," said Frank Sullivan, RPM chairman and CEO. API will continue to be lead by its current management team, which includes grandsons of the company founder.

RPM International, a holding company, owns subsidiaries in the specialty coatings, sealants, building materials and related industries that serve both industrial and consumer markets.
