LED Relight kit is designed for retrofits
Atlanta-based Acuity Brands expanded its LED indoor ambient lighting portfolio with the launch of the Lithonia Lighting RTLED Relight assembly kit. The kit is designed to bring the advantages of LED lighting to renovation projects.
The easy one-to-one fixture replacement installs from below the ceiling and offers a high quality of light with the added benefit of energy savings. The energy savings can be maximized by the use of advanced LED lighting technology, full range dimming, and flexible, intelligent control options.
“The ability to offer a retrofit LED product that upgrades the quality of light and improves energy savings is a unique solution,” said Dave Ranieri, Acuity Brands Lighting VP and general manager, Lithonia Lighting Commercial Indoor Products.
Floor & Decor store opens in Orange County
Floor & Decor Outlets of America has opened again, this time in Orange County, Calif., according to an article in the Orange County Register.
The 70,000-square-foot store opened in Santa Ana on Sept. 1. Founded in 2000, Atlanta-based Floor & Decor operates 25 stores in 15 U.S. metropolitan markets.
Floor & Décor focuses specifically on flooring, which is displayed in a warehouse setting. Pricing is low, products are available in stock, and the assortment changes daily.
“We are a value-conscious retailer appealing to a diverse clientele – from contractor to DIY homeowner to interior designer," President Bryant Scott told the newspaper.
Bryant served as president of Expo Design Centers, from 1999 to 2001. Home Depot closed its high-end remodeling stores in 2009.
Marvin’s plans Tennessee home center
Marvin’s Building Materials and Home Centers announced plans to open a new store in Fayetteville, Tenn.
The new store in Fayetteville is the first of at least two new stores planned for Marvin’s in 2012 and the first store in Tennessee to take on the company’s new-store format. It will soon be under construction at the former Food Lion shopping center on Huntsville Highway, Highway 431.
The store, expected to open in February of 2012, will feature a 35,000 square foot home center with an attached lawn and garden center and drive through lumberyard.
The store will offer a complete line of building materials, electrical, plumbing, paint, millwork, hardware, tools, and lawn and garden products.
“Making our customers’ lives easier with affordable, quality solutions is what Marvin’s is all about," said Darrin Gilliam, President and CEO. "We have been working towards a store in the city of Fayetteville and Lincoln County since 2006. Fayetteville is the first new concept store of several that we hope to open in the great state of Tennessee.”
The company expects to capture sales that previously went to businesses outside the city and county, Gilliam said.
Marvin’s will hire approximately 25 associates to work in the new store.
The company opened two new stores in Monroeville, Ala. in May and expects to open Eufaula, Ala., in October of 2011. The company was founded in 1945 by Marvin Cohn in Gadsden, Alabama.
Marvin’s, named the 2010 Retailer of the Year by the Home Channel News, currently operates 27 stores in Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia.
