Kodiak Building Partners acquires AO, Inc.
Kodiak Building Partners purchased substantially all the assets of AO, Inc., a Dallas based fabricator and distributor of doors, frames and hardware to commercial contractors for the office build-out market.
The move brings Denver, Colorado-based Kodiak deeper into Texas, and follows acquisitions of Gulf & Basco and Factory Builder Stores.
“We are very excited about having the AO team join forces with us,” said Steve Swinney, Kodiak president. “Their expertise in serving the market for both new office facilities and tenant improvement work fits into our diverse approach to U.S. construction markets.”
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The company is fabricator and distributor of building products with four locations in Colorado, eight locations in Texas, and one location in Boston serving commercial and residential contractors, builders and sub-contractors.

Fargo is scene of ABC Supply opening
Beloit, Wisconsin-based building products distributor ABC Supply Co., will open its first North Dakota location.
The official opening date for the Fargo store is Aug. 18.
“North Dakota’s economy is very strong thanks to the oil boom in the western part of the state,” said Jim Welch, VP of ABC’s Midwest Region. “Unemployment is very low, construction activity is up and last year the new home market in Fargo was the strongest it has ever been. By locating our newest branch in Fargo, we are bringing the ABC Supply brand of superior service to the contractors who are working in this busy market.”
The store is located at 4119 14th Ave. N in Fargo.
Builders FirstSource completes acquisition of Truss Rite
Dallas-based Builders FirstSource purchased Truss Rite, marking the company’s third acquisition of the summer.
Truss Rite, based in Sherman, Texas (about 65 miles north of Dallas), primarily manufactures wood roof and floor trusses for large multi-family and commercial projects throughout Texas and parts of Oklahoma. They predominately serve developers and general contractors in the multi-family residential housing sector. Sales were approximately $11 million for fiscal 2013, while June 2014 year-to-date sales were $9.8 million.

Builders FirstSource operates 55 distribution centers and 50 manufacturing facilities in 9 states, principally in the southern and eastern United States. Manufacturing facilities include plants that manufacture roof and floor trusses, wall panels, stairs, aluminum and vinyl windows, custom millwork and pre-hung doors.
