KB Home names president, Houston Division

KB Home has announced that James Harrison has been named president of its Houston division. Harrison is responsible for all of the company’s home-building operations throughout Houston, from land acquisition and construction to sales and customer service. 

"Jim is joining a team with a proud history of building quality new homes in Houston for over 15 years, and we look forward to the valuable contributions he can make to our business, as we introduce new home designs and open communities in some of the region’s most desirable submarkets," said Jim Widner, regional president of KB Home.

Harrison has more than 30 years of experience throughout Texas. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of leadership roles, including ones at Toll Brothers, Ashton Woods Homes and Ryland Homes. Most recently, he founded and was president of JBH Austin, an independent construction and consulting company focused on commercial and residential building, as well as land acquisitions.

ENAP points to top building product vendors

New Windsor, N.Y.-based ENAP announced their 2012 Building Products Vendor of the Year Award recipients.

Vendors are evaluated on a variety of criteria, including sales growth, gross margin improvement, customer support and product quality.

Organized by department, the vendors are PrimeSource Building Products (specialties), USG (commodities), Atrium Windows and Doors (millwork), and MasterBrand Cabinets (kitchen and bath). 

“These four vendors continue to support the co-op and its members and strive to reach outstanding sales goals. These awards are a testament to the hard work and focus of our sales teams and these supporting vendors.” said Tom Molloy, VP building products. 

These awards will be presented at the upcoming 46th Annual Meeting and Trade Show at the Gaylord Palms in Kissimmee, Fla.

NLBMDA spring meeting includes Builder Homesite

The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) announced that Tim Costello, president and CEO of Builder Homesite, will address the NLBMDA board of directors on March 18 during the group’s Spring Meeting & Legislative Conference.

All NLBMDA members are welcome to attend the address.

The conference will take place March 18-20 at the Crystal City Marriott in Arlington, Va. Also at the event, Senator Angus King (I-Maine) will be a featured speaker during the Washington Briefing breakfast.

The conference will also include a special-ticketed event featuring Bill Kristol, who will speak during the March 18 NLBMDA LuDPAC fundraising luncheon. Kristol is the editor of the influential Washington-based political magazine, The Weekly Standard. He is widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading political analysts and commentators and regularly appears on FOX News Sunday and FOX News Channel.

The Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference, hosted by the NLBMDA and the Window and Door Manufacturers Association, runs March 18-20.
