Irwin gears up for National Tradesmen Day
Irwin Tools is preparing to celebrate America’s tradesmen during the third annual National Tradesmen Day on Sept. 20.
"America’s tradesmen: they build our homes, roads, businesses, and schools," reads a company statement on the dedicated website. "They are the backbone of our functioning nation — and that’s why they deserve a national day of recognition."
The event, which will be taking place nationwide, will feature celebrations, recognition ceremonies and related activities.
Leading up to the day’s events, Irwin Tools has launched a multimillion dollar advocacy campaign to attempt to reverse the shortage in skilled tradesmen. The campaign includes TV and digital advertising, media outreach, jobsite events and promotion at home centers and hardware stores.
“There was a time when tradesmen were revered for their pioneering spirit, but many of today’s tradesmen are under-appreciated," said Irwin’s senior VP marketing Rich Mathews. "National Tradesmen Day is about acknowledging the plumbers, welders, builders, electricians and those who work with their hands. Let’s thank them for their contributions.”

In 1983, he was named sales manager of the Elgin branch and later became regional sales manager in 1993, where his responsibilities included sales support for Atlanta, Elgin, York, Hampshire and Canada branch operations.
“I am very happy to continue fostering my career with W. R. Meadows,” said Weber. “I look forward to representing the company as VP sales.”
