Jeld-Wen scores with stadium name in Portland
Jeld-Wen and the Portland Timbers soccer team announced a new naming rights partnership for the team’s newly renovated home venue, which now will be known as Jeld-Wen Field.
The multiyear deal provides stadium naming rights for the downtown Portland venue that annually will play host to Timbers home games as well as college and high school football games, and other events.
Jeld-Wen Field officially will be opened to the public when the Timbers play the Chicago Fire April 14, in their first-ever home match as an MLS team.
As part of the deal, Klamath Falls, Ore.-based Jeld-Wen also becomes the Official Window and Door Provider of the Timbers and Major League Soccer, and will partner with the Timbers on a number of important community initiatives. The League partnership gives Jeld-Wen the right to use MLS League and Club marks along with logos and marketing assets at League and select Club events such as the MLS All-Star Game and MLS Cup, Major League Soccer’s championship game.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“From a branding standpoint, partnering with the Timbers and Major League Soccer is an ideal fit for Jeld-Wen,” said Steve Wynne, the window and door manufacturer’s chief marketing officer. “Soccer is an international sport, and we’re an international company."
Green energy drives marketing in Arizona development
A Net Zero photovoltaic system is one of the environmentally friendly features of Park Centre Homes at La Posada in Green Valley, Ariz. The development is a collaboration between La Posada and Pepper-Viner Homes, both award-winning for their environmentally friendly designs and initiatives, according to the companies.
Each home is oriented to the homesite to capture the heat of the sun. In addition, the homes will utilize a Net Zero photovoltaic system with the potential to reduce energy costs by more than 85%.
The homes were designed with the flexibility to be oriented on each individual lot to highlight the home’s architectural features. This allows for the shading of major living spaces and patios, as well as greater access to the home from the street. Park Centre Homes have two patios and orientation ensuring that at least one patio is always shaded from the sun. All three floor plans also utilize solar tubes that collect and diffuse natural light into halls and closet areas.
Bait pellet rodenticide to remain on shelves
As an EPA deadline looms, Parsippany, N.J.-based Reckitt Benckiser said its d-CON bait pellet rodenticide products will remain on the shelves.
On Jan. 28, 2011, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia mandated EPA to follow due process and hold hearings before making any recommendation that could result in the removal of its d-CON loose baits from the market, the company said. The company says it is hoping to avoid market confusion.
“Based on the new ruling, retailers can continue to sell d-CON loose baits, which are the consumer-preferred and most effective format on the market,” said Raj Jain, brand manager for d-CON at Reckitt Benckiser. “We want our retail partners to know that d-CON will continue to offer efficacious bait solutions for consumers and that the EPA’s June 4, 2011, deadline for removing all products that contain second-generation rodenticides has been extensively delayed.”
The Court agreed that the EPA has no authority under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) to misbrand d-CON loose baits until the time that a hearing could take place, the company said. This hearing would provide d-CON with a forum to present its findings regarding benefits of current products in controlling rat and mice population to avoid any public health issues. The company said it does not expect a resolution of this matter for at least 12 months.
