Bering’s tops list of Bona retailers

BY Ken Clark

Bona US, the North American subsidiary of Bona AB in Sweden, awarded its 2011 Retailer of the Year designation to two Bering’s Hardware stores in Houston.

“Bering’s Hardware sold almost four times the Bona floor care products over other retail partners. It’s a great success story,” said Travis Stuckey, national accounts manager, hardware and paint, Bona US.

The Bona Retailer of the Year Award is given to the Bona retailer with the highest retail sales for an individual location in a calendar year.

The two Bering’s Hardware stores are located on Westheimer Street and Bissonnet Street in Houston. Honorable mentions for 2011 included Ace Hardware in Highlands Ranch, Colo; The Home Depot in Marina del Ray, Calif.; Lowe’s in Franklin, Tenn.; Strosniders Hardware in Bethesda, Md.; and McGuckin Hardware in Boulder, Colo.

Mary Burnett, housewares manager at the Bering’s Westheimer store, has been selling Bona products for more than 10 years to thousands of people. Burnett said: “We’re honored to receive this award. There is no doubt, Bona makes the best products to care for hardwood floors. Our customers love Bona.”

A Houston tradition, Bering’s Hardware is a unique retail concept. For generations, it has offered an array of quality hardware items for the home. Today, Bering’s has two stores in Houston that operate under the guidance of August C. Bering IV and son, August C. Bering V, with the assistance of daughter, Heather Bering Mafrige.
