Houzz launches site tailored to U.K. users

Palo Alto-based home renovation platform Houzz has crossed the pond, launching a site focused on users in the United Kingdom.

Houzz allows homeowners to connect with design and architecture professionals and each other for their renovation projects. Now the company’s million U.K. users will be able to find professionals and source nearby materials for their renovation projects

“U.K. users have been an important and growing part of the Houzz community and we’re thrilled to deliver a dedicated U.K. site and team to better serve their needs,” co-founder and CEO Adi Tatarko said. “Now U.K. homeowners can access relevant content and a growing network of professionals, in addition to the global resources Houzz provides.”

Houzz’s team in London will be led by Vivienne Sung, who has been the company’s U.K. managing director since January, and who is an advisor at mobile dating app Dattch and London-based dog boarding site myDogBuddy.

NACCO Materials Handling names new execs

NACCO Materials Handling Group (NMHG) the parent company of Hyster Company and Yale Materials Handling Corporation added Mike McCormick as VP warehouse solutions and Bill Buckhout as director of leasing and remarketing. McCormick and Buckhout have more than 40 years of combined industry experience.

“We continue to seek talented individuals who will contribute to the strategic leadership and global support behind Hyster and Yale lift trucks, two of the most successful brands in the industry,” said Chuck Pascarelli, president of sales and marketing for NMHG. “Mike and Bill’s extensive knowledge of our industry and significant experience in previous roles are of immense value to NMHG. As the warehouse market segment continues to grow, Mike’s leadership enables us to focus on meeting the materials handling needs and challenges specific to end users in this market. Similarly, Bill will provide guidance to and emphasize customer-centric service for our leasing and remarketing division.”

McCormick has an extensive background in sales and product marketing and has held roles of progressive responsibility throughout his career in companies such as Caterpillar, FMC, Daewoo Heavy Industries, Elwell Parker and BT Prime-Mover, in addition to most recently serving as director of product management for a materials handling company.

Buckhout most recently served as a leasing operations and marketing manager and has held a number of roles in sales, equipment leasing/rental management, marketing and financial services in companies including Rapidparts and other materials handling companies.

Pirch makes room for American Standard’s DXV line

DXV by American Standard, a new flagship luxury bathroom and kitchen brand launched this spring, will be available at Pirch locations across the country beginning August 2014.

Pirch operates four luxury show rooms in California and another in Chicago.

In addition to a "try before you buy" experience in its stores, the concept features a fully operational kitchen, bathroom and laundry room fixtures and faucets for customers to "test drive" before purchasing.

"Our partnership with American Standard and its groundbreaking DXV line is a source of great pride for us," said Jeffery R. Sears, CEO of PIRCH. "With its comprehensive range of styles and graceful designs, the DXV brand both complements and reinforces the elevated, joyful shopping experience we strive to provide all our guests." 

Sold exclusively in showrooms, the DXV portfolio is comprised of more than 70 unique product and style offerings that reimagine and reinterpret historically significant design periods, the company said.
