Home Depot opens big-format store
Home Depot has opened a 211,000-sq.-ft. “superstore” in Anaheim Hills, Calif., which it describes as “almost twice the size of [a] regular Home Depot.” The unit, situated in an affluent area of Orange County, is an existing store that was remodeled. Among the changes are:
• Expanded bath fixture showroom, including a “shower gallery;”
• More kitchen cabinet options;
• Weber grill showroom;
• Year-round outdoor living showroom;
• Expanded appliance showroom with lifestyle vignettes;
• Expanded hard surface flooring and rug selection;
• Expanded decor showroom; and
• Expanded hardware department
The store first opened in 2004 in a remodeled 205,000-sq.-ft. former Kmart. The store has multiple entrances, a will-call area for kitchen appliances and other big items, and a drive-through section in lawn and garden. At the time, Home Depot officials said it was not a prototype or pilot store. The same holds true for the latest Anaheim Hills incarnation.
But California has always been a testing ground for new Home Depot formats. The first Expo Design Center opened in San Diego, and in 2003, the Atlanta retailer opened a “his and hers” store in a Los Angeles suburb that featured light beige racking, shiny gray floors and wider aisles. High-end kitchen and bath vignettes greeted customers upfront, while the traditional orange warehouse atmosphere prevailed in back.

Right. It's because in fact,
Right. It's because in fact, an analysis done by the agencies last year suggests the “Current Regional Plans” scenario performs even better, possibly attaining a 10 percent per capita GHG reduction by 2035. In addition, analysis done by the agencies estimates non-land use GHG reduction strategies (including telecommuting, driver-awareness campaigns and vanpool incentives) may deliver additional GHG reduction of 6.5 percent, suggesting there might be a simpler and a less costly and less wrenching path forward. Romney holds big lead in AHMA survey
An American Hardware Manufacturers Association (AHMA) survey of its members showed significant support for Mitt Romney. The survey, part of the AHMA Industry Confidence survey, also found that most members doubt the constitutionality of the Health Care Act.
When asked: “If the 2012 presidential election presents a choice between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, who would you vote for?” – 89% responded “Romney,” 5% responded “Obama” and 5% responded “not sure.”
When asked: “The Supreme Court is about to rule on the constitutionality of the new health reform law. Do you think the Court should rule the law to be constitutional?” – 21% responded “Yes,” 5% responded “not sure,” and 74% responded “no.”

American Standard rolls out new faucets
High-performing bathroom faucets American Standard are now available nationwide at The Home Depot in the Marquette, Espana and Alejandra collections.
The products’ water-saving fixtures include washerless ceramic disc valves and the exclusive no-tools Speed Connect system.
The pre-assembled Speed Connect drains on bathroom faucets have only four parts, instead of the 14 different parts used with conventional drains. For installation, simply hand-connect and tighten the flexible pop-up cable to the drain. Even better: the drain seals tight the first time and every time, and the lift rod never comes loose or requires adjusting. These Speed Connect drains never get out of alignment and never need adjusting.
The new Marquette bath collection includes widespread and centerset pieces in both mid and high spout versions, a J-spout centerset and a single handle shower faucet. The new España single-control bathroom faucet features the distinctive Estate Bronze finish, while the sleek Alejandra centerset is offered in a tarnish, scratch and corrosion resistant polished chrome finish.
The collections are currently sold at Home Depot.
