David Weekley crowns its 2014 Partners of Choice

BY HBSDealer Staff

Houston, Texas-based David Weekley Homes has named its annual list of "Partners of Choice" Award winners, which recognizes the suppliers who ranked the highest on its now decade-old ranking system.

About 800 David Weekley employees contribute to the evaluation process, assessing supplier performance according to accessibility, communication, timeliness, reliability, follow-through and more.

Among the winners were those who fell into the top tier with an "A,A" ranking for both quality and service: Dow, DuPont, Eaton Corporation, In Sink Erator, Johns Manville, Louisiana Pacific, Office Depot, Rinnai, Seacoast Supply, Simpson Strong Tie, Skelton Business Equipment, Uponor and Zurn.

Of those, both In Sink Erator and Uponor are first-time winners of the "A,A" ranking.

“It is an honor to receive this prestigious award from such a great company and partner,” Louisiana Pacific specialty sales director Craig Sichling said. “Providing consistent quality and service is at the heart of our company’s promise to our customers. To be honored by one of the nation’s largest builders for fulfilling that promise speaks volumes about the effort that LP employees at all levels put into what they do every day.”

A number of companies earned an "A" in either quality or service, including Acme Bricks, Building Specialties – Texas, Carrier, GAF, Home Team Pest Defense, Honeywell, Lennox HVAC and Square D.

Laticrete acquires HP Spartacote

BY HBSDealer Staff

Bethany, Connecticut-based Laticrete International has acquired HP Spartacote, a Colorado-based supplier of resinous floor coatings.

The move is aimed at expanding Laticrete’s position in the decorative flooring and coatings market — though the company is a manufacturer of building industry products at large.

Laticrete also recently acquired L&M Construction Chemicals and DuPont Surface Care Business.

"This combination strengthens the Laticrete and HP Spartacote brands alike," said David Rothberg, chairman and CEO of Laticrete. "Through this acquisition, the HP Spartacote brand portfolio will gain access to Laticrete manufacturing capabilities, sales representation, and marketing and support services. Laticrete customers, in turn, will enjoy access to some of the most innovative decorative and restoration products on the market."

The deal was completed in July, with the business expected to be fully integrated within the next 12 months.
