Armstrong promotes Donald Maier
Armstrong World Industries has reshuffled its management structure, appointing Donald Maier to the post of EVP and CEO, Armstrong Flooring Products, in order to fill the vacancy left by Thomas Mangas.
Previously, Maier was serving as SVP global operations excellence. He has been with the company since 2010, during which time he played a pivotal role in the company’s Lean transformation and established a new project management process and safety program.
He has also worked for TPG Capital Advisors and as VP and general manager of Hill-Rom’s North American business.
"I would like to thank Tom for his many contributions to Armstrong and wish him well in his future pursuits," said Armstrong CEO Matt Espe. "In Don Maier, we have a leader with a great combination of P&L and operations experience, as well as a strong understanding of the key issues and opportunities for our flooring business."
Mangas has left Armstrong to accept a role with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide as EVP and CFO.
Weyerhaeuser is moving HQ to Seattle
Weyerhaeuser Company has announced its plans to move its headquarters from its current Federal Way, Washington location to Seattle.
"There are two main drivers for this decision, which we made after thorough analysis of various options for the location of our headquarters," said Doyle R. Simons, president and CEO. "First, our 430-acre campus in Federal Way is costly and too large for our needs. Second, moving our headquarters to Seattle will give us access to a larger talent pool to meet future recruiting needs, not just in this region, but from across the country."
As such, Weyerhaeuser will divest the land and buildings under its ownership in Federal Way as it looks ahead to its new chapter in Seattle.
The new headquarters, which is currently under construction and is due for completion in mid to late 2016, will be located at 200 Occidental Avenue in Seatle.
