Fontana True Value praised by co-op

In Canon City, Colo., Fontana True Value is carrying a new stamp of approval: “True Value Best Hardware Store in Town.”

Jim Fontana and Susan Palladino accepted the designation during a True Value Co. ceremony in Atlanta, during which 13 stores were honored.

In Canon City, Fontana True Value is known for empowering employees to make decisions, including returns and price matching. 

“Every day I get customer feedback about how friendly and helpful the employees are,” said Fontana. 

The store is also active in the community through the local Chamber of Commerce, local charities and by providing supplies to local schools during back to school season. 

The Best Hardware Store in Town program has been recognizing True Value retailers since 2007. “These are talented business people who work incredibly hard to bring their communities the best service and shopping experiences possible,” said John Hartmann, president and CEO of True Value Co.

Reliable Distributors honors McNally

Paul McNally of Apex Tool Group received a Presidential Award at the Reliable Distributors Management and Marketing Conference.

The award is presented to members and vendors for their outstanding commitment and leadership provided to the group.

Also during the conference, Reliable Distributors introduced new marketing programs, including a Made in USA-focused effort. 

The conference theme, in fact, was "Living in America."

Reliable is based in Libertyville, Ill.

Do it Best Corp. hires Eric Knox

Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Do it Best Corp. hired Eric Knox as regional sales and business development manager, covering a large swath of the United States.

In this position, Knox will lead a team of territory managers for a 10-state region covering parts of the central, southern and southwestern United States, including Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and portions of Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri and Tennessee. He will work to strengthen existing relationships between Do it Best Corp. and its member-owners through improvements in retail performance and dedicated personal service, as well as cultivating relationships with new members within his region.

“We are very excited to welcome Eric to our outstanding field team,” said Jay Brown, VP of sales and business development for Do it Best Corp. “Eric brings a great combination of experience and enthusiasm to Do it Best Corp. that will further strengthen our field team’s ability to help our members grow.”

Knox brings 15-plus years of experience in sales, marketing, product development and retail experience to Do it Best Corp. Most recently, he established brand development and built key relationships in China as director of sales and marketing for TekPoint International Corp. Prior to that, he worked with Ace Hardware for more than a decade as both a regional sales manager and a corporate store manager.
