Fiberon hires Europe market manager
New London, N.C.-based Fiberon, maker of wood-alternative decking, railing and fencing products, hired Robert Staudte as its new European market manager. Staudte will oversee marketing and sales for all European countries from his office in Gütersloh, Germany.
Fiberon said that a critical component of Staudte’s role will be to increase Fiberon’s channel presence in the existing markets, as well as expand the company’s footprint into other countries.
His background includes senior management positions in leading European companies. He has managed laminate flooring exports for Kronotex Germany a member of the Swiss Krono Group, a leading manufacturer of wood-based products. He has helped develop the Kronoswiss brand and strengthen the “Made in Switzerland” label for this renowned manufacturer and finisher of wood-based products.
Robert also held senior sales positions for laminate flooring manufacturer Witex Flooring based in Germany.
“Robert is simply a pro’s pro when it comes to international home-building and lumber products,” said Doug Mancosh, president of Fiberon. “He has the experience, the contacts and the drive to help Fiberon achieve its vision of becoming the leader in wood-alternative decking products throughout Europe.”
KB Home releases Sustainability Report for Earth Day
KB Home has released its seventh annual Sustainability Report for 2013, which evaluates the homebuilder’s actual progress compared to its stated goals.
“KB Home is proud to publish our seventh annual Sustainability Report," said president and CEO Jeffrey Mezger. "For the third year in a row, we are releasing the report to celebrate Earth Day. We essentially view every day as Earth Day at KB Home as we remain committed to designing our homes to be more efficient and to consume fewer natural resources, in order to help both our planet and our homebuyers."
Among KB Home’s accomplishments last year were a decrease in the average Home Energy Ratings System (HERS) Index Score for its new homes for the sixth straight year. Several moving parts contributed to this, including the Wiser home management system for energy usage and several energy- and water-saving technologies.
In particular focus were its ZeroHouse 2.0 model homes, which are designed to achieve net-zero energy status and zero freshwater irrigation use.
Mezger added that the typical new KB Home is 65% more energy-efficient and uses 30,000 less gallons of water annualy compared to a typical resale home that lacks energy- and water-efficient features.
