Fairhaven Lumber teams with BlueTarp
Fairhaven Lumber of Massachusetts signed a deal with BlueTarp Financial to provide financial services for the family owned lumber and hardware supplier.
Portland, Maine-based BlueTarp Financial is described as the building supply industry’s leading credit management company, will provide services that offer Fairhaven’s pro customers extended payment terms, larger credit lines and convenient online tools. Fairhaven is also offering customers a Prompt Pay Rebate, as a loyalty tool. Also, BlueTarp pointed to guaranteed cash flow that allows Fairhaven Lumber to invest in its business with confidence and focus more on its customers.
“This is the first time since the recession that I have felt that there is room for the next generation in this business,” said Jimmy Kalife, owner of Fairhaven Lumber. “BlueTarp has made the difference,” “BlueTarp allows me to get out there and meet new customers as well as encourage existing customers to do more with us. I can see we’re profitable again, and I’m excited about the future.”
Kalife’s son recently joined the business.
Fairhaven is a second-generation lumber and hardware supplier, and for over 60 years has offered its customers building materials, siding and roofing, doors and windows, and insulation services.
BlueTarp will manage all aspects of Fairhaven’s credit program from beginning to end, including credit analysis and extension, customer service, billing and collections.

Fairhaven is using the Epicor Eagle retail management system, with which BlueTarp recently integrated. Through this system integration, Fairhaven will be constantly connected to BlueTarp, enabling customers to make BlueTarp financed purchases at any point-of-sale and get real-time approval. The company will also be eliminating end-of-day back office time because all transactions will be transmitted in real time.
CertainTeed boosts the Patriot Roofing Shingle
Pointing to increased demand, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania-based CertainTeed Corporation expanded availability nationwide for its Patriot metric asphalt roofing shingle.
Patriot combines color blend drops with intermittent shadow lines to offer a popular aesthetic appeal, the company said. For contractors and builders, the shingle offers an easy-to-install roofing solution that is ideal for projects where attractive products are called for at an economical price.

Lumberyard expands in Nevada
Truckee-Tahoe Lumber Company opened a new location in Sparks, Nevada, serving the Reno area and beyond.
With the new location, the company’s store count grows to four. Truckee-Tahoe Lumber’s other locations are in the California cities of Truckee and Tahoe, and an additional Home Concepts Design Resource Center, also in Truckee.
The expansion was described by the family owned and operated business as a move to support the growing customer base in the Northern Nevada region.
Located at 1550 Hymer Ave in Sparks, Nevada, the facility includes a 32,000-sq.-ft. indoor lumber-yard, fully stocked hardware store, and the Home Concepts Design Resource Center’s warehouse and Door Shop production.
Truckee-Tahoe Lumber Vice President and General Manager Ira Cross is managing the new location.
Truckee-Tahoe Lumber Company supplies lumber, building materials, doors, and hardware to the Northern Sierra region. The company dates back to 1931.
