Dumond Chemicals names new CEO

New York-based Dumond Chemicals, maker of paint removal and stone and masonry cleaning products, appointed John Petroci as president and CEO, effective immediately.

Petroci is replacing Hy Dubin, who announced his retirement after serving as president and CEO of the company for 29 years.

“John brings the full compliment of skills in leadership, industry experience and market knowledge to the post,” said Dubin.

Petroci served as VP sales and marketing at Dumond since 2005.

Dumond Chemicals brands include Smart Strip, Safe’n Easy Stone & Masonry Care, Watchdog Graffiti Control Products, and Lead Stop, a lead abatement and encapsulating product.

Leviton headquarters goes green

In Melville, N.Y., Leviton Manufacturing Co. collaborated with the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) to launch long-term sustainability initiatives within its 140,000-sq.-ft. facility.

“Reducing energy use and carbon footprint within our global operating infrastructure is a mission-critical component of Leviton’s corporate mandate,” said Leviton president and CEO Donald Hendler. “By partnering with the experts at LIPA’s Commercial Efficiency Program, we received the customized technical support we needed to achieve our efficiency goals. As a provider of environmentally conscious products and systems, we are able to conduct our operations in an eco-friendly office complex that reflects our commitment to serving our customers, while serving as a socially responsible corporate citizen.”

Leviton is a supplier of electrical wiring devices and lighting energy management systems.

The implementation of energy-efficient lighting and building systems will reduce Leviton’s electric energy demand by an estimated 141 kilowatt (kW) and its electric energy usage by an estimated 646,433 kilowatt hours (kWh) per year, resulting in savings of approximately $116,000 annually. The efficiency measures will also result in avoided emissions, over a 20-year period, of approximately 23,260 lbs. of sulfur dioxide, 15,516 lbs. of nitrous oxide and 15,095,600 lbs. of carbon dioxide — the equivalent of removing 1,360 passenger cars off the road.

Earlier this year, Leviton upgraded its El Paso, Texas, manufacturing plant to reduce electricity use by 2.1 million kWh a year.
