DaVinci brings attention to colorful roofscapes

Kansas City, Kan.-based DaVinci Roofscapes, maker of roofing materials including polymer slate and shake roofing, launched a home exterior color contest open to all homeowners.

The “Shake it Up” Exterior Color Contest includes a $5,000 cash grand prize to help the winner add color to the exterior of his or her home.

National color expert Kate Smith will help judge the contest to determine five finalists. She will then work with a professional artist to create renderings and product wish lists of how the five finalists can transform their home’s exteriors by adding color and colorful products by the contest sponsor and partners. The original photo submission and the artist’s renderings for the five finalists will be posted on the contest site for two weeks of online public voting. The finalist with the most votes will receive the $5,000 grand prize.

“This fun contest will show people how easy it can be to add ‘top down’ color to a home’s exterior,” said Smith, president and chief color maven of Sensational Color. “We’re going to help people turn ordinary home exteriors into extraordinary, color-coordinated showstoppers.” 

The contest is being run through the DaVinci Facebook page

The contest sponsor, DaVinci Roofscapes, offers polymer slate and shake roofing tiles in 49 standard colors. Each of the product partners for the contest, including Therma-Tru, Fypon and Simonton Windows, offers colorful product options for homeowners to enhance their home’s exterior.

Quick Drain hires Davis Sales Group

Quick Drain USA has hired the Davis Sales Group based in Cleveland to represent and promote the company’s line of award-winning linear drain shower systems throughout Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

“Matt Davis has a ‘can do’ attitude and a track record of making sure the dealer is always taken care of,” said Jim Van Landingham, VP residential sales for Quick Drain USA. “We are confident Matt will give us the exposure in his market to take us to the next level … and, are excited to have him represent us.”

The Davis Sales Group is family-owned independent manufacturers’ representative agency, which was established in 1957. Representing manufacturers of commercial plumbing/heating products and high-end decorative residential kitchen/bath products, the firm takes a structured and professional approach relative to the sales of these various product lines.

Flooring association names new CEO

The Anaheim, Calif.-based World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) selected Scott Humphrey to lead the association as the CEO, effective April 1. Humphrey, former director of the Shaw Flooring Network, fills the position left by the late D. Christopher Davis. 

His job will include identifying and seeking opportunities to develop alliances and partnerships with other organizations that will drive growth and business for members and the industry overall. Humphrey will also provide direction to the board of directors and committees and will direct and oversee staff at WFCA headquarters. 

For more than 25 years, he served in multiple capacities at Shaw Industries, beginning his career as territory sales manager. In his most recent role, as director of the Shaw Flooring Network (SFN), Humphrey oversaw an $8-million budget that contributed to several hundred million in sales with a staff comprising a large number of direct and indirect reports. Together, his team was responsible for managing more than 2,000 independent Shaw-aligned retailers. 

"Scott came to our attention because of his proven ability as an inspiring leader, his strong execution skills, his phenomenal track record for success and his capacities as a visionary,” said Harold Chapman, chairman of the board. “His vast and direct industry experience will be an invaluable asset for the WFCA. He is a true professional, and I am confident that he will take the WFCA to new heights.” 

The WFCA is the floor covering industry’s largest advocacy organization, representing floor covering retailers, contractors and allied service providers throughout North America.
