Carter Lumber opens second Atlanta-area yard
After opening a store in Athens, Ga., in November, Kent, Ohio-based Carter Lumber today announced the opening of a new yard in the Atlanta area.
The new location, a former Stock Building Supply unit, is in Oakwood, Ga. It is the company’s second location in the Atlanta area.
“Moving into Atlanta is an evolution of our long-term growth plan to select the right markets, get the best people to service the customers and let them produce immediate positive results,” said Carter Lumber president and COO Jeff Donley. “This business is based on relationships and opening a second location in the Atlanta market shows our commitment to providing the best level of service for our customers.”
The 14-acre full-service lumberyard will offer rough framing lumber, engineered components and place a heavy emphasis on millwork products, the company said.
“The warm reception we have received has expedited our timetable for opening this second location and will enable us to provide all the services that the market needs,” said Kip Gleckler, senior VP field operations.
