BMC grows in northern California

BY HBSDEALER Staff

Boise, Idaho-based BMC, the building materials and construction services provider and 2012 HCN Pro Dealer of the Year, completed the acquisition of Sacramento-based Western Building Specialties.

The move will expand BMC’s millwork offerings in Northern California and strengthen the company’s business in the Central Valley of California, a market described as a key U.S. market for homebuilders.

Western Building Specialties assets include Western Building Specialties (WBS) and Western Bath and Shower (WBSI). The Nov. 11 acquisition will enable expansion of its millwork offerings, said BMC CEO Peter Alexander.

“WBS has built over a 60-year period a reputation for providing quality products and reliable services,” Alexander said. “We are very excited about serving customers through the combined strength of WBS and BMC at our facilities located in Sacramento, Fresno and Modesto.”

Joseph Liotine, who currently serves as VP marketing for the company’s North American region, has been promoted to president of Whirlpool Corp.’s U.S. operations, as well as to the corporation’s Executive Committee.

In this newly created role, effective Dec. 1, Liotine will oversee the company’s ascendant U.S. business operations, which has delivered strong financial results in the wake of challenging market conditions a couple years ago.

Liotine has been with Whirlpool since 2004 as a finance manager, succeeding through multiple positions of increasing responsibility. In his most recent role, he was responsible for the performance of product category and brand teams.
