Atlanta home builder lays off work force

BY HBSDEALER Staff

Robert Harris Homes, one of Atlanta’s largest regional home builders, has laid off its employees and ceased operations, according to an article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Sales agents for the Woodstock, Ga., based company, which closed 337 homes in 2007, told the newspaper that they received job termination e-mails during the last week of June.

While the bulk of its operations are in the Atlanta area, Robert Harris Homes had recently expanded to North Frisco, Texas. The company started on the west coast of Florida, where it built more than 1,000 homes.

This year, the builder has suffered work stoppages on some of its projects due to unpaid bills, the Journal Constitution reported.
