Another Ace on tap for Rochester, Minn.
According to an article in the postbulletin.com, and old Hollywood Video store in Rochester, Minn., will soon be converted into the city’s fourth Arrow Ace Hardware location.
Owner Dave Neiman, who reportedly owns stores in Byron, Owatonna, Northfield, Mankato, Shakopee, Chaska and St. Peter, said the store is expected to open in June.
RISI hires new economist
RISI, a leading provider of information about the forest products industry, has announced the appointment of Wade Camp as senior wood products economist. Camp comes to RISI from the Southeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association, where he held the title of director of economic services.
Camp’s career spans three decades and multiple roles from production to economic modeling, working for companies and associations such as International Paper, Georgia-Pacific and the Southern Forest Products Association.
Headquartered in Boston, RISI works with clients in the timber, wood products, bioenergy, pulp and paper, tissue, nonwovens, printing and publishing industries. It has additional offices throughout North and South American, Europe and Asia.
New-home sales sputter in February
Sales of new single-family homes in February fell to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 250,000, according to a report released Wednesday by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The February stat is the lowest since the government began keeping track in 1963.
New-home sales for the month are 16.9% below the revised January rate of 301,000 and 28.0% below the estimate from February 2010.
Also, the report estimated the median sales price of new homes sold in February was $202,100, the lowest since December 2003.
