Ace appoints new CFO

Ace Hardware has named William Guzik as the company’s new chief financial officer, effective July 9. Guzik, 52, will oversee all financial-related activities, including accounting operations, financial strategy, risk management, treasury, investor relations, planning and reporting.

“Bill brings a wealth of experience and leadership in strategy, finance and operations to this role,” said Ray Griffith, president and CEO of Ace. “We are pleased to welcome Bill to the Ace family as a valued team member who will help shape Ace’s ongoing results-focused strategic initiatives.”

Prior to joining Ace, Guzik was executive VP and chief financial officer at Midas International for 13 years. He has also held executive leadership roles at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, JG Industries and Delray Farms.

Guzik is a certified public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from DePaul University.

Westlake Ace to close Missouri store

Westlake Hardware will close an underperforming store in St. Charles, Mo., on July 1, according to an article in St. Louis Today.

In a statement, the company said that "financial performance has not been at the level necessary to enter into a new long-term lease agreement."

The store opened in 2007.

Westlake, the largest Ace Hardware chain, operates 88 hardware stores in seven states.

Ace Hardware in D.C. to add another unit

Gina Schaefer and Marc Friedman, owners of five Ace Hardware stores in the Washington, D.C., area, will open their sixth unit in the Woodley Park area, according to an article in the Washington Business Journal.

The operators of A Few Cool Hardware Stores will use Ace’s new “Express” model for the 3,800-sq.-ft. store. It will be located in a former CVS location. The lease was signed in late June, according to the article, and the targeted opening date is in August.
