ABC Supply Co. bestows award on Frank Novascone
ABC Supply Co. has honored Frank Novascone III, managing partner at the distributor’s Whicita, Kansas branch, with a Ken Hendricks Award.
The Ken Hendricks Award recognizes ABC Supply employees who embody the values put forth by late founder Ken Hendricks together with co-founder and wife Diane Hendricks.
According to the company, Novascone knew he wanted to run his grandfather’s roofing supply store from the time he was a child. In 2002, he stepped into those shoes when ABC Supply (which had purchased the business in 1997) made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
“Frank Novascone embodies the spirit that the Ken Hendricks Award is intended to recognize,” said ABC Supply president and CEO Keith Rozolis. “In his business life and in his personal life, Frank demonstrates character that is true to the values that our company was founded on and that continue to serve as our guiding principles.
Novascone accepted the award during the company’s annual Founders’ Celebration at the National Support Center headquarters in Beloit, Wisconsin on June 19.
“Frank is one of the best managers in the company,” added Mike Gipson, manager of ABC Supply’s Kansas/Oklahoma District. “He has made every branch he has managed successful. Frank runs his branch with integrity; he exemplifies entrepreneurship and what it means to be a great manager.”
AZEK, Home Depot and OrePac get their hands dirty for disabled vets
AZEK, Home Depot and OrePac all teamed up Thursday, June 19th to help spruce up a garden for disabled vets in San Bernardino, California.
The Veterans Exploration Garden in Speicher Memorial Park received a new AZEK Paver walkway (which is made with 95% recycled materials) for smoother wheelchair access.
Volunteers were in tow from Team Depot as part of SPRING into Service, the organization’s season-long initiative to plant edible gardens for veterans across the country. AZEK and OrePac were onboard as co-sponsors.
“We are privileged to be able to give back to our veterans who have served so bravely by adding this AZEK Paver walkway to their garden,” said Jason Grommon, president of AZEK parent company CPG Building Products.
The garden, billed as a therapeutic place for veterans to decompress and sustain their community, is managed by the non-profit Disabled American Veterans San Bernardino Chapter 12.

Atlanta-based wood-alternative maker NyloBoard announced a new relationship with distributor Dixie Plywood and Lumber Co. in Charlotte, N.C.
Dixie Plywood distributes to the Charlotte metro area as well as the North Carolina-Piedmont area.
Since its launch in 201,2 NyloBoard, makers of brands including NyloDeck and NyloPorch, has been picking up distribution partners at a solid pace.
Other recent deals are with Vandermeer Forest Products in the Pacific Northwest, Holbrook Lumber in the Northeast and Jim Mackie Distribution in the Midwest.
Made from compressed and treated recycled carpet fibers, the product offers good looks along with high-end performance, including bend-proof flexural strength. And therefore, it allows designers the flexibility to create tighter joints, according to the Atlanta-based company.
