Arlington Coal & Lumber acquiring Friend Lumber Company
Arlington Coal & Lumber Co., announced that it has reached an agreement to purchase the assets and real estate of Friend Lumber Company.
Established in 1923, Arlington Coal & Lumber Co., a fourth-generation lumber and building materials dealer owned by the McNamara family, has five locations in Massachusetts.
Friend Lumber Company, a third-generation lumber and building materials dealer established in 1945, has two locations in Burlington, Mass. and Hudson, N.H.

Mark Jaffe, the current owner and President of Friend Lumber Company, will retire after the sale is completed, having worked at his family lumber business for more than 47 year.
The sale transaction is anticipated to close in late August or early September 2021. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
