Ames Research Laboratories announced that it has received a Pro Tool Innovation Award for the Capstone Granite.

Gathering a diverse team of judges, including contractors, construction business owners, tradesmen, and media professionals, the votes were counted for the most innovative construction and outdoor power equipment industry products in the world. Judging the 10th annual PTIA Awards revealed an array of innovative power and hand tools, tool accessories, fasteners, and other products submitted by many of the top manufacturers in the industry.

Capstone Granite is an interior/exterior, water-based, single-component acrylic coating with a multi-color blend of decorative chips suspended in the product for a “granite-like” appearance. This coating is ideal for horizontal and vertical surfaces such as pool decks, porches, patios, decks, walkways, walls, and more.

Here's what the Pro Tool Innovation Awards judges had to say about the Capstone Granite:

“Give your exterior the look of natural stone without the hassle with Ames’ Capstone Granite. Capable of being applied on wood, concrete, or masonry, it’s as easy as loading into a hopper gun and leaves the appearance of solid stone. It’s available in six different color combinations, is non-toxic, eco-friendly, has low VOCs, and is a Made in the USA product.”

"Any product can undergo incremental changes. Pro Tool Innovation Award winners tend to buck trends and bring much more to the table," said Kenny Koehler, editor-in-chief of Pro Tool. "They really deserve the recognition they get. We feel that business owners, builders, contractors, and tradespeople can look to PTIA Award-winners to locate the products that can increase productivity, help them make more money, and increase safety on the job site."

Products won based on their ability to demonstrate either innovative features, advanced power delivery, groundbreaking ergonomics, technological advancements, advancements in job site safety, or above-average value. The 2022 Pro Tool Innovation Award winners represent companies and products driving progress and advancement in the construction, landscaping, and manufacturing industries. This year, 99 different manufacturers and brands submitted over 465 products in dozens of categories for a chance to take home a 2022 Pro Tool Innovation Award.

"It's hard to believe this is our 10th year hosting the PTIA Awards. Each year we continue seeing more and more innovation from both large and small companies that manufacture tools, accessories, fasteners, and other products you might find on construction sites, on a landscape professional's trailer, or simply around the home," said Clint DeBoer, executive director of the Pro Tool Innovation Awards. "The constant striving we see from manufacturers and product managers who seek to innovate each and every year is quite humbling."
