At 96, Stanley Rich retires

Long career at Jeffries Do it Best earns a mayoral proclamation.

The week of Aug. 16-22 was officially proclaimed by the mayor of Columbia, Ky., as “Stanley Rich Week” in honor of 96-year-old Stanley Rich’s career serving customers at Jeffries Do it Best Hardware.

Rich retired in August after a long career during which he displayed strong work ethic and desire to serve the community.

The official proclamation, from Mayor Pamela Hoots of Columbia reads:

  • Whereas, Stanley Rich will be officially retiring from Jeffries Hardware this week;
  • Whereas, the City of Columbia would like to recognize him for his contributions to our community;
  • Whereas, we want to recognize Stanley Rich for his work ethic;
  • Whereas, the City of Columbia would like to thank him for his service to our country;
  • Therefore, the week of August 16-22, 2021, is being proclaimed as Stanley Rich Week in Columbia.

Rich began his hardware career at at Jeffries back in 1974, working throughout the store including the hardware and electrical aisles.
