Georgia-Pacific is investing $37 million in its Gurdon, Arkansas, lumber operations, which will see a lumber mill expansion of about 60%.

"As the housing market continues a slow, but steady improvement, our plans to invest at Gurdon ensure our ability to meet the growing needs of our customers and become their lumber supplier of choice," said Fritz Mason, VP and general manager for Georgia-Pacific's lumber business. "This is an opportunity to broaden our product offerings, enhance quality and improve our cost competitiveness."

Simpson Door Company has hired Phil Steklenski as its newest VP and general manager, replacing Stacie Conkle, who is retiring after 28 years with the company.

"I am pleased to be joining a strong and long-tenured leadership team, and am honored to lead Simpson Door Company in its next stage of growth," Steklenski said.

In his new role, Steklenski will be oversee all of the company's operations.

Pike most recently worked for Sears as its Kenmore Brand VP and general manager and as the top merchant for Sears Home Appliances. He also spent many years in manufacturing and led the development, launch and product management of several cooking lines.

Andersen Windows launched a website, andersenhomedepot.com, for the Home Depot. The company says the site offers visualization capabilities that make it easier for customers to select Andersen windows sold through the retailer.

“The website was first launched in May 2013 and now gives The Home Depot customers the ability to easily design a window using all the exterior options offered across multiple product lines,” said Steve Mog, VP and general manager of The Home Depot Group for Andersen.

Epicor Software Corporation has tapped Noel Goggin to be its new senior VP and general manager of its Epicor Retail solutions business.

Goggin has 22 years of senior management experience in the software industry, 12 of which involved executive management duties on the retail side of operations. In his previous role, Goggin was VP and general manager of retail strategy at Red Prairie.

Ideal Industries, a maker of tools and equipment for the professional contractor, has promoted Nick Shkordoff to group VP and general manager of the electrical division. Previously, Shkordoff was president of Anderson Power Products, a subsidiary of Ideal that designs and manufactures high-power interconnects and accessories. He also served as president of Ideal Industries Canada.

Shkordoff will be responsible for overall business strategies, product development, marketing and sales.

Organizers of the recently completed 2011 National Hardware Show in Las Vegas said a second straight year of increased attendance gives the 2012 show a head start. 

The 66th Annual National Hardware Show, which concluded May 12 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, saw an increase in attendance of 4%, according to organizers. Last year's show saw an increase of 20%. Organizers said they were encouraged by exhibitor bookings for 2012 that are already up 16% from a year ago.
