A subsidiary of Universal Forest Products, Inc. has acquired an 80% interest in certain assets of Packnet, Ltd., an industrial packaging and services supplier headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota.

The deal includes the option to purchase the remaining 20% of interest in three years. Packnet owner and CEO Mike Nyberg will remain in place at the head of the operation.

European home improvement retailer Kingfisher has found a new CEO in Veronique Laury, formerly the head of the company's French unit, Castorama.

Laury will fill the shoes of Ian Cheshire, who served as chief executive for nearly seven years and is stepping down by the end of 2014. She will also become the fifth female CEO in Britain's FTSE 100 index of blue chip companies.

Chicago -- Ideas for loyalty in a competitive climate came fast and furious during an educational session here at the Orgill Fall Market.

The session, called "How to effectively use a customer loyalty program," was led by Theresa Neal, head of new business development for Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based Pro/Phase Marketing. The company's RepeatRewards program has a business relationship with Orgill, providing a menu of real-time loyalty services.

Kris Matula and Mack Hogans are the newest addition to Boise Cascade's board of directors, the company announced Wednesday. The two join the board as longtime member Samuel Mencoff resigns.

Matula is the retired president and CEO of cellulose-based product manufacturer Buckeye Technologies, which Georgia-Pacific acquired in 2013. Before his time at the head of the company, Matula served as Buckeye’s CFO. He’ll serve on Boise Cascade’s compensation committee.

Atlanta -- True Value Co.'s Special Order App for mobile devices is putting more power into the hands of retailers, according to the co-op.

What began as a concept about 18 months ago, the True Value mobile ordering app is now in its sixth month of operation. It's in use at about 1,800 retailers making thousands of orders, said Rosalee Hermens, VP and chief information officer for True Value.

Contech is promoting the ecological benefits of its heart-shaped Rainforest Ecological Sprinklers, designed to lower water consumption. 

The heart-shaped head of the sprinkler breaks up water droplets to improve delivery to the root zone and to prevent wasted water, according to the company. 

“Because they can’t clog, Rainforest Sprinklers are ideal for hard water areas and for low-pressure systems like wells,” said Mark Grambart, president and CEO of Contech Enterprises, the manufacturer of Raniforest Ecological Sprinklers.

ProBuild Holdings, the nation’s largest pro dealer, has announced a restructuring that will eliminate several high level management positions, lay off a number of people, and institute a hiring freeze at its Denver headquarters. 

In an internal memo obtained by Home Channel News, ProBuild’s CEO Rob Marchbank outlined the new leadership and reporting structure of the Denver-based company. The executive VP operations layer of management will be eliminated, and all senior VPs of operations will report directly to Marchbank.
