According to WD-40 Company president and CEO Garry Ridge, the fourth quarter of 2014 had its ups and downs. However, it marked the best quarter in history for the company in terms of revenue.

"We had a good quarter and a good year and are pleased we have been able to maintain sustainable growth across our core business globally," said Ridge. "While we saw both positive and negative impacts from changes in foreign currency exchange rates, we had local currency growth across key markets and the fourth quarter was our highest revenue quarter in history."

WD-40 Company has completed the acquisition of GT85 Limited, a U.K.-based supplier of multi-purpose maintenance products.

"This acquisition, which includes the GT85 and SG85 brands, complements our multi-purpose maintenance products and will help us to build upon our strategy to develop new product categories for our WD-40 Specialist and WD-40 BIKE lines," said Garry Ridge, president and CEO of WD-40 Company. "In addition, GT85 and WD-40 BIKE share a similar base of end-users who trust and respect both brands."

Though sales were up 3% and income increased 1% for WD-40 Company in the third quarter, shares for the lubricants and cleaner supplier were down more than 6% Thursday morning after management narrowed the full-year guidance.

Net sales for the quarter came in at $95.7 million, up from $93.1 million in the same quarter last year. This was largely carried by sales of multi-purpose maintenance products; sales of homecare and cleaning products decreased 1%.

San Diego-based WD-40 Company reported gains in sales and net income in the first quarter and also the largest sales quarter in the company's history.

WD-40 sales for the quarter ended Nov. 30 were $95.5 million, up slightly from $95.3 million in the same quarter last year. Net income of $11.5 million was up 5% from $10.9 million.

"We are pleased that we were able to improve our gross margin in the quarter, which was in part due to our supply chain improvement initiatives," said CEO Garry Ridge.

WD-40 Co. reported growth in net sales for the fourth quarter ended Aug. 31, though net income was down on a year-over-year basis.

Net sales saw an increase of 10% from 2012's fourth-quarter sales, with year-to-date sales up 8% year-over-year at $368.5 million. Multi-purpose maintenance products, the company's main product category, saw an even bigger boost, with a 16% increase to $81.6 million. Homecare and cleaning products were down 16% to $11.9 million, though the company is focusing less on this category as multi-purpose maintenance products experience increased growth.

San Diego-based WD-40 Company is adding three new products to its WD-40 Specialist line -- a Dirt & Dust Resistant Dry Lube, Machine & Engine Degreaser and Electrical Contact Cleaner Spray.

Developed at the WD-40 Company Research and Development Center, all of the new WD-40 Specialist products are 50-state VOC compliant, the company said.
