Brentwood, Tennessee-based Tractor Supply Company enjoys describing itself as the source for 4-H project supplies. The retailer got a little closer with the 4-H cause by raising $763,283 during a 10-day national in-store fundraiser earlier this year.

As part of the Fall 2014 Paper Clover Fundraiser, Tractor Supply Company and Del's Feed and Farm Store, a division of Tractor Supply, raised the money by asking customers to donate $1 to support 4-H.

Knoxville, Tennessee-based House-Hasson Hardware is rolling out “Dollar House,” a merchandise and sales program to enable dealers to compete with Dollar General, Family Dollar, and Dollar Tree stores, the company said.

“Dollar House” will be introduced to House-Hasson dealers at the company’s upcoming Oct. 9-11 dealer market in Sevierville, Tennessee, at the Sevierville Events Center.

The new pet supply retail concepts operated by Tractor Supply Company will open in mid November in Franklin and Fairview, cities within close proximity to the company’s headquarters.

Nashville, Tennessee-based Louisiana-Pacific Corporation slowed down in the second quarter of 2014, which saw a sales decline of 9% and significantly lower earnings for the building products giant.

Net sales for the three months ended June 30 were $518.5 million, down from $567.0 million in 2013. Sales for the six-month period were also down year-over-year, netting $963.2 million in comparison to $1.1 billion last year.

Despite soft sales early in its second quarter, Tractor Supply Co. reported a sales gain of 8.8% and comparable-store sales of positive 1.9%.

The Brentwood, Tennessee-based farm-and-ranch-store giant reported $1.58 billion in sales for the period ended June 29, compared with $1.46 billion in the same quarter last year. 

Net income for the quarter increased 8.0% to $133.4 million, up from $123.6 million.

Knoxville, Tenn.-based House-Hasson Hardware says its June 19-21 dealer broke all previous records for attendance, attracting some 2,300 to 2,400 people.

“We sold more of every product,” said Don Hasson, president. “People are feeling better about the economy, and when they feel better they buy more. That means dealers are buying products looking to the next six months rather than the next few weeks.”

Sales of animal- and pet-related merchandise and winter seasonal items helped push up sales at Brentwood, Tenn.-based Tractor Supply Co. in the first quarter ended March 29. 

Net sales increased 9.0% in the quarter to $1.18 billion, up from $1.09 billion in the same quarter last year. Comparable-store sales increased 2.2%. 

Net income for the quarter increased 10.9% to $48.8 million, up from $44.0 million

Hankins, of Knoxville, Tenn.-based Roof Design and Consulting Services, was named president at the Annual Meeting of Members during the 29th International Convention and Trade Show in Anaheim, Calif.

Johnson City, Tenn.-based General Shale named Charles Smith as CEO of the company, the North American subsidiary of Wienerberger, a manufacture of brick.

Smith is a 22-year veteran of General Shale and he previously served as president and COO. He succeeds Richard L. Green, who retired April 1.

"Charles has helped steer General Shale's operations through a major economic downturn, and he played an instrumental role in revitalizing the company's product development," said Heimo Scheuch, CEO of Wienerberger.

Brentwood, Tenn.-based Tractor Supply Co., the nation’s largest farm-and-ranch retailer, reported big gains in sales and earnings for the fourth quarter and full year. 

The company reported nets sales of $1.42 billion in the fourth quarter, up from $1.29 billion in the same quarter last year. Comparable-store sales increased 3.5%.

Net income for the quarter was $95.9 million, up from $79.5 million in the same quarter last year.
