The producer of precast concrete insulated wall systems has expanded its operations into Canada with two new licensees that will be manufacturing precast concrete foundation systems.

Superior Walls Alberta (located near Calgary) will be offering Superior Walls Xi products throughout Alberta, and Superior Walls by Magnis (based in Beausejour) will provide Superior Walls Xi Plus throughout Manitoba.

Armstrong World Industries, a designer and manufacturer of floors and ceilings based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, reported a slight decline in third-quarter sales.

The company said lower volumes in Europe and in resilient and wood flooring in the Americas more than offset favorable price and mix. 

Net sales of $728.3 million were down 0.2% from the third quarter last year. Net income was $31.8 million, down from $55.9 million a year ago.

St. Louis-based Huttig Building Products hired Bob Kern Sr. as the new territory manager to cover southern New Jersey from the Huttig Wilkes-Barre branch in Pennsylvania. 

Kern has more than 20 years of experience in the building materials industry. He started his career with Peter Lumber Company in Pleasantville, New Jersey, where he was the operations manager for many years. Most recently, Kern was territory manager with Milliken Millwork.

PPG Industries has agreed to acquire Westmoreland Supply, a Pittsburgh-based architectural paint distributor with 12 stores in Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Upon completion of the deal, Westmoreland will be rebranded under the PPG Paints store brand.
