In a combined transaction, building products manufacturer and distributor Patrick Industries, Inc. has completed the acquisition of both Frontline Mfg., Inc. and Premier Concepts, Inc. for a combined net purchase price of $8 million.

The transaction includes the acquisition of accounts receivable, inventory, prepaid expenses, tooling, machinery, equipment and vehicles. The deal was funded by the company's $80 million revolving secured senior credit facility.

Cemex has reached an agreement to acquire some of Holcim's assets for 70 million euros, a move aimed at strengthening the building materials company's footprint in Europe.

“When finalized, this will be an important strategic step that should allow Cemex to improve its footprint in Europe, and it will consolidate our portfolio in the continent,” said Lorenzo H. Zambrano, Chairman and CEO of Cemex.

Specifically, Cemex is set to acquire all of Holcim's assets in the Czech Republic, including a cement plant, four aggregates quarries and 17 ready-mix plants.

Home Depot and U.S. Home Systems have announced the completion of the merger of USHS with an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Home Depot. The merger was approved by the stockholders of USHS at a special meeting held on Oct. 26. As a result, USHS became an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Home Depot.

Irving, Texas-based USHS is currently an exclusive provider of kitchen and bath refacing products and services, as well as closet and garage organizational systems to Home Depot.

Building Material Distributors (BMD), a wholesale distributor of specialty building materials, on Monday announced its acquisition of Master Fasteners International and Fastener Source.

BMD will be merging Fastener Source and Master Fasteners under the single name of Master Fasteners International, and will operate the company as a wholly owned subsidiary of BMD. The acquisition of Master Fasteners, an importer and wholesaler of fine wire and pneumatic fasteners, will allow BMD to expand on their previously established market position within the fastener industry.

Sears quietly added all nine of its Great Indoors stores to the list of store closings on Feb. 23.

Store managers were informed on Thursday, a Sears spokeswoman confirmed, but no exact date has been given for the closings.  

The upscale remodeling and home décor stores began opening in 1998, long before the Sears and Kmart merger. At one point, Sears operated 20 of the units, but they were never a big moneymaker for the company.

Oklahoma City-based building products distributor Cedar Creek and Wholesale Wood Products of Dothan, Ala., ended merger discussions, Cedar Creek announced Thursday.

"Despite everyone's best efforts, we were not able to get to a mutually acceptable agreement with Wholesale Wood Products," said Bill Adams, CEO of Cedar Creek. 

WWP's Chuck Harris said the discussions ended on the best of terms.

Apax Partners completed the previously announced acquisitions of Epicor Software Corp. and Activant Solutions Inc. 

Apax intends to combine Activant with Epicor to create one of the largest global providers of enterprise applications focused on the manufacturing, distribution, retail and services sectors. The combined company is now called Epicor Software Corp. The new Epicor has more than 33,000 customers in over 150 countries and more than $800 million in annual revenues.

New Britain, Conn.-based Stanley Black & Decker posted first quarter sales of $2.381 billion, up 89% from the year ago period -- thanks largely to the incremental sales achieved through Black & Decker.

The company, which marked its one -year anniversary of the Stanley and Black & Decker merger last month -- the companies merged March 12, 2010 -- said 71% of the sales increase was from Black & Decker, other acquisitions made up 9%, unit volume resulted in 7% growth, and currency rates added 2%.

The merger of Ecohaus and Green Depot, announced on Feb. 7, is a West-meets-East event that unites three of the pioneers in the green-building movement. Four, if you count Greenmaker in Chicago, which Green Depot purchased in 2008.
