Madison, Wisconsin-based Fiskars says it is tripling the number of grant recipients for its Project Orange Thumb. 

The maker of lawn and garden products will award 30 applicants $3,500 in cash and tools to to help communities reach their goals for neighborhood beautification, community collaboration and healthy, sustainable food sources.

The company is accepting applications for 2015 Project Orange Thumb garden grants in the U.S. and Canada now through January 31, 2015.

Fiskars is recalling its 32" Bypass Lopper Shears, which are sold exclusively at Home Depot, due to a laceration hazard.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the handles can break during use, which can potentially cause injury and laceration.

The shears have the model number 6954 and can be identified by their 32-inch dark orange steel handles and black rubber grips, which have a gray strip.

Fiskars Canada is voluntarily recalling its propane-powered string trimmers due to safety concerns. The SmartPower Propane 4-Cycle Curved Shaft String Trimmer, sold at Canadian Tire stores, could pose a danger when engine vibration allows the propane canister to rotate. This causes abrasion to the fuel line and possible flammability created by gaseous propane being released through the damaged fuel line during both use and storage.
