McCoy’s Building Supply opened a new store in Dayton, Texas, marking the family-owned company’s 86th location.

The yard is near McCoy’s Baytown and Cleveland locations.

“Our delivery trucks nearby were making deliveries to Dayton every day,” explained McCoy’s real estate manager Phil Hutchinson. “Since we’ve already been serving its residents, we are excited to officially become part of Dayton’s community.”

Carter Lumber, the 144-unit pro dealer based in Kent, Ohio, is bringing the employees and operations of its Medina, Ohio, location into its Carter-Jones Lumber location in Akron,

The company says the Medina facility is closing and consolidating in Akron because it outgrew the confines of its 4-acre location. The Akron facility measures 17 acres, and it will be rebranded as Carter Lumber.

A report from Cleveland Research points to significant management turnover at Sears, which has been linked to frustrations over inventory reduction aimed at improving cash flow.

The activity is nothing new for the struggling retailer, whose sales have dropped every year since 2007. Turnover has been a continued theme, with former CEO Louis D'Ambrosio exiting the scene in February and chairman Edward Lampert, who had no experience in retail, taking his place.

A 3-2 vote by the Federal Competition Commission of Mexico put a hold on Sherwin-Williams' acquisition of Consorcio Comex.

The Mexican regulatory body said the acquisition announced Nov. 12 was not authorized by the commission.

In a statement released Thursday morning, Cleveland-based Sherwin-Williams said: “The company is reviewing the rationale for the commission’s decision and expects to respond to the commission’s concerns in the near future.”

Higher paint sales volume from the Paint Stores Group boosted Sherwin-Williams Co.'s second-quarter performance.

Cleveland-based Sherwin-Williams Thursday morning reported net sales of $2.71 billion for the quarter ended June 30. That's up 5.5% from the same quarter last year. Net sales in the Paint Stores Group increased 8.0% to $1.61 billion.

The company's total net income for the quarter was $257.3 million, up 12.9% from the second quarter of 2013.

Cleveland-based Sherwin-Williams Co. agreed to acquire Consorcio Comex, S.A. de C.V., a leader in the paint and coatings market in Mexico with headquarters in Mexico City. 

Comex sells architectural and industrial coatings in Mexico through 3,300 units operated by 750 concessionaires. Sherwin-Williams will pay approximately $2.34 billion, including assumed debt, in an all-cash transaction, the company announced Monday morning.
