Eagle Materials has tapped Michael Haack to fill the new COO role, which was created to service the company's recent wave of growth and expansion in construction and energy-related markets.

He joins the company following a 17-year stint with Halliburton Energy Services, where he most recently served in a management role within Global Operations for Sperry Drilling. The multi-billion dollar company has operations in every major oil and gas market.

Boise Cascade Company has named Tom Corrick to the post of COO. Additionally, it has named Dan Hutchinson EVP Wood Products (replacing Corrick) and Wayne Rancourt as EVP, CFO and treasurer.

Corrick will be transitioning from his most recent role as EVP Wood Products, which he has held since June of this year. Before that, he served as SVP since February 2011 and VP Engineered Wood Products before that.

Michael H. McGarry, currently executive VP of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based PPG Industries, has been appointed to the post of chief operating officer.

McGarry will have executive oversight responsibility for all of PPG’s strategic business units and operating regions and for the information technology (IT), environment, health and safety (EH&S), and purchasing functions. He will remain based at PPG’s global headquarters in Pittsburgh and will continue to report to Chairman and CEO Charles E. Bunch.

David Nunes is leaving his post as president and CEO of Pope Resources in order to take the helm of Rayonier, Inc. when the company eventually splits later this year. For now, however, he's onboarding as Rayonier's COO.

Effective June 9, Nunes will assume his interim role, in which he will be tasked with helping to finalize the separation of the company.

Indianapolis-based appliance and electronics retailer hhgregg Inc. hired Troy H. Risch as chief operating officer.

Risch joins hhgregg from RadioShack, where he served as executive VP store operations. Prior to this, he held a variety of operational leadership positions with Target Corp., including executive VP stores. Risch will assume the COO position on May 5, 2014.

Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe's has named Michael McDermott to the high-profile position of chief merchandising officer.

McDermott replaces Michael Jones, who is transitioninig into the role of COO on April 30, supervising McDermott. He will be responsible for the merchandising operations of Lowe's U.S. business, as well as all global sourcing activities. He has been with the company since 2013 as SVP general merchandising. He has over 20 years of experience in the field, with previous stints at General Electric.

Ace Hardware Corp. announced today that it has acquired Emery-Waterhouse, the Portland, Maine-based distributor of hardlines products for independent lumber, paint, industrial and hardware outlets.

D.R. Horton, Inc. has promoted David Auld to the position of EVP and COO, where he will oversee the company's homebuilding regions and help guide its operations.

Auld has been with the company since 1988, joining initially as president of the Orlando division. He was promoted to president of the company's East region in 2005. His resume also includes stints with Texas American Bank and General Dynamics.
