Denver – True Value unveiled big plans for its advertising in 2015. In President and CEO John Hartmann's words, "the changes will be transformational, and I mean like we haven't advertised in over a decade."

Hartmann left it up to SVP & Chief Customer Officer Blake Fohl and SVP & Chief Merchandise Officer Ken Goodgame to deliver the news of an expanded national TV branding campaign. They described a national television program with ten times more spend in 2015.

True Value has hired Jean Niemi, a former Home Depot communications executive, as the Chicago-based co-op’s new senior director, corporate communications. 

A veteran communications executive with more than 15 years of experience at Fortune 500 corporations and leading public relations agencies, Niemi will lead and oversee all media relations, executive engagements, employee and retailer communications, and manage the corporate communications team.

Chicago-based True Value Co. is in the early stages of the launch of its Discover credit card program, and expectations are high, according to the co-op.

Expanding a credit card program while promoting a “stabilized” loyalty card program were among the payment system priorities the Chicago-based co-op presented during its Fall Market in Utah. 

The True Value Co. is asking members to sign up now for a credit card program it intends to launch in 2013.

Even though he’s appearing on a prime time, national television commercial, Beyond Hardware True Value owner Matt Shapiro hasn’t gone Hollywood.

“I have to admit, I did very little besides show up and read my lines,” he said.

In his first market presentation to True Value retailers, the co-op's new VP marketing and chief customer officer Blake Fohl laid out a plan for -- what else? -- improved marketing. 

He also promised improvements to True Value Rewards (TVR).
