American Standard is commemorating World Toilet Day on Nov. 19 with the release of its 2014 Global Sanitation Report, which draws attention to inadequate sanitation conditions affecting roughly 40% of the world's population.

That amounts to approximately 2.5 billion people, with a daily death toll of about 2,000.

The company also provided the latest details on its Flush for Good effort, which has the stated goal of bringing improved sanitation to 20 million people by the year 2020.

Global sanitation expert Jim McHale of American Standard Brands will speak at the 2014 Consumer Goods Emerging Markets Forum in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Sept. 18, 2014.

McHale will discuss the initial results of the Company’s Flush for Good campaign, which to date has focused on improving access to safe sanitation in Bangladesh and Sub-Saharan Africa.

American Standard Brands is investing in its design team via three new hires at its Piscataway, New Jersey headquarters, where the design studio is located.

Emilie Williams, Greg Reinecker and Gabriela Ravassa have joined the team, reporting to new VP design Jean-Jacques L’Hénaff.

Williams has been brought on board as associate design director for faucets. Previously, she served as senior designer at Ignite USA, working for the Contigo and AVEX housewares brands. She also had roles at Delta Faucet and Masco Corporation.

DXV by American Standard, a new flagship luxury bathroom and kitchen brand launched this spring, will be available at Pirch locations across the country beginning August 2014.

Pirch operates four luxury show rooms in California and another in Chicago.

Piscataway, New Jersey-based American Standard Brands President and CEO Jay Gould was appointed to the board of directors of American Standard’s parent company, LIXIL Corporation.

Gould joined American Standard Brands in January 2012. 

Over the course of the next 18 months, according to the company’s announcement, Gould executed a plan that quadrupled the company's EBITA, grew sales by 10 percent and improved gross margins by 700 basis points.

American Standard has launched a flagship luxury bathroom and kitchen brand -- called DXV, for "Decade 15" -- in celebration of its 150-year anniversary.

Starting this spring, more than 70 DXV products will be available exclusively in showrooms across the country. These collections will be curated according to the historical period they evoke: Classic (1880-1920), Golden Era (1920 - 1950), Modern (1950 - 1990) and Contemporary (1990 - present). Within each time period, there will be one or two bathroom fixture suites and complementary faucet collections.
