Bentonville, Ark.- based Wal-Mart announced Jan. 4 that Jack Sinclair has been named executive vp-grocery merchandise for the United States, effective Jan. 7.
Sinclair, 47, will oversee the grocery business for Wal-Mart and will integrate planning, category management and store experience into the overall grocery business unit.
Sinclair joins Wal-Mart with broad experience in grocery retailing in the United Kingdom. He spent 14 years at Safeway, serving as group marketing and trading director, and prior to that, he worked at Tesco stores, the company said.
