Ray Griffith, the CEO of Oak Brook, Ill.-based Ace Hardware, explained during an interview on Fox Business that consumers will continue to spend on their homes.
“We had a real good first quarter, and so far it’s carrying into April,” said Griffith during a segment described by the network as “Banking on do-it-yourself.”
Griffith was interviewed in the aisles of Fuller’s Home and Hardware in Hinsdale, Ill., not far from the co-op’s headquarters in Oak Brook.
The Ace CEO gave a non-partisan answer to a question about the possible impact of the upcoming presidential election on business. “I’m like every other consumer in America, I think,” he said. “I’m scared to death of the gridlock in our political system right now and the fact that our politicians won’t address our issues. But that will not stop a good entrepreneurial company and our retailers from serving the needs of our consumers.”
Griffith also said that spending on the care and maintenance of homes will continue for generations.
