Munich, Germany-based Osram has appointed Jes Munk Hansen as the new CEO of its Americas business, as well as president and CEO of Osram Sylvania, effective Oct. 16. He replaces Rick Leaman, who has left to pursue other interests.
"Jes Munk Hansen is the ideal choice to lead Osram's Americas business," said Wolfgang Dehen, CEO of parent company Osram Licht AG. "His many years of experience of introducing new energy efficient products and profound understanding of the American market are a powerful combination. His appointment will further strengthen our leadership position at a time where new regulatory standards and new technologies are redefining our industry."
Hansen will be responsible for all Osram operations in North, Middle and South America, primarily in the capacity of transitioning the business to energy-efficient LED-based lighting products.
He brings 13 years of experience serving in leadership roles at Grundfos, where he was recently CEO and president of Grundfos North America. Under his watch, the company experienced robust growth, and he has a track record for innovation in sustainability and energy-efficiency.
"I'm very proud to join Osram," said Hansen. "The growing market demands for energy-efficient products combined with landmark technological innovation are radically reshaping the lighting market. I'm excited to bring in my experience to this heritage-rich lighting brand and fully realizing the opportunities ahead."
