Fiskars to open new facility in Mississippi

Madison, Wis.-based Fiskars said it will be opening a new 265,000-sq.-ft. facility in Southaven, Miss., according to the Commercial Appeal.

The move is part of the company’s plan to combine warehouse and distribution operations for its Garden and School/Office/Craft divisions.

The company said it will be closing its facility in Sauk City, Wis., by the end of this year, and it’s Wausau facility some time in 2011.

“The change will optimize the operational efficiencies of the company's growing business, providing improved fulfillment to retail trade customers,” said Janelle Schwartz, of Fiskars.

Schwartz said the merger began in 2009 with the centralization of business personnel onto a single campus in Madison.
