Ikea is testing “open-source” designs at its full-range town-center showrooms. These are more accessible retail locations used for shoppers to pick up their purchases, according to Reuters.
While these are smaller locations, the spaces will display Ikea’s entire assortment range with the help of new digital tools, such as virtual reality, the report said.
The program is being spearheaded by the company’s brand owner and franchiser Inter Ikea division. This group also manages the company’s Supply chain management and design operations.
