Former Burt's Bees CEO Douglas Meyer has been named CEO of Agaia Home, the consumer branch of green cleaning products company Agaia, based in Fort Lauderdale.
"We're delighted that an industry leader of Doug's caliber recognizes the revolutionary nature of our technology and its potential for transforming the household cleaning industry," said Benjamin Shell, chairman and CEO of Agaia. "Safe, non-toxic cleaners are finally taking center stage, and Doug's arrival at Agaia is an important moment in the shift from petroleum-based cleaners to the post-petroleum era."
In his new role, Meyer will help spearhead the growth strategy of Agaia's plant-based home care products, which were recently adopted by Walmart.
"I'm well-trained by some of the world's best companies, know what to look for, and at first couldn't believe the excellence of these products," Meyer said. "I literally spent the first 40 years of my career preparing for this opportunity -- to lead a game-changing technology with the ability to transform the marketplace while, at the same time, greatly benefiting the environment."
Meyer's resume touts 40 years of consumer packaged goods experience, which includes his time leading Burt's Bees, as well as his role as VP and general manager at Colgate-Palmolive and as president of North America and regional manager of the Americas at Benckiser.
