Bissell enters rental business

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Bissell announced it will be entering the rental arena with its first commercial-grade deep cleaner.

The company said the new rental program is meant to appeal to customers who want to use deep cleaning equipment, but aren’t looking to own.

“Bissell has more than a century of cleaning experience, and consumers have made us their top choice for deep cleaners,” said Jim Krzeminski, executive VP and chief customer officer. “Because of this, it’s a natural progression for the Bissell brand to enter the rental market and offer a commercial-grade deep cleaner.”

Beginning in September, consumers will be able to rent the new Bissell Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine, with powerful DirtLifter rotating brushes to penetrate carpet fibers and remove deep-down dirt to groom carpets for professional results.

Bissell said the machine’s Dual Pass cleaning mechanism cleans in both forward and backward motions, making the deep cleaning process much faster. Two removable, large-capacity water tanks allow for easy filling and emptying, and its DryAire function applies heat directly to the carpet while it cleans. After cleaning, carpets dry faster than with the leading rental machine, according to the company.

Customers will also be able to purchase four professional deep-cleaning formulas and three spot and stain removers, which are targeted at specific cleaning needs, at rental kiosks. Extra accessories such as a hose and tough stain tool will also be available. The company said rental costs would start at $24.99.
